What are Dermal Fillers?
Dermal fillers are substances injected under the skin to soften and contour lines, folds, and wrinkles. There are many different brands of dermal fillers, some you may have heard of, most you probably haven’t.
Here at RDP cosmetic we routinely use the Juvederm / Hydrafill and Restylane ranges because we have found them to be safe, consistent and reliable.
What are they made of?
The most commonly used dermal fillers are Hyaluronic acid (HA) gels. HA is present naturally in the skin where it binds water molecules and provides the plumpness to the skin that is lost with aging.
What can be done with fillers?
When the gel is injected into the skin it adds volume creating a more youthful appearance.
Dermal Fillers are an ideal solution for patients wanting to:
-
soften deep lines from the mouth to nose area
- smooth out vertical lip lines
- enhance thin lips and create a more defined lip border
- lift the corners of the mouth.

Does it hurt?
In some clinics anaesthetic skin creams are used to numb the skin prior to treatment, however a lot of people find this approach means the treatment is still uncomfortable.
Here at RDP cosmetic we use an anaesthetic gel followed by painless dental injections. This ensures that the areas to be treated are fully anaesthetised before proceeding with treatment.
How long does it last?
The treatment is not permanent. The effect may last from 6-12months after which top-up treatment will be necessary.
